The one line solution to unemployment would be to generate more employment opportunities. But how?
Few of the following should definitely help generation of employment opportunities:
- Support and infrastructure for cottage industries
- Encourage cottage /Small Scale Industries much more that big business houses.
- Encourage open sourcing of technologies for non-hi-tech items. Open sourcing here implies making the technological know-how available to common man and do away with patents which are older than a specific period.
- Stop irrational patenting of consumer products suitable for cottage industry.
- Zero technology products should be more produced by cottage industries /SSI instead of big business houses.
- Promote usage of products produced by indigenous SSIs and cottage industries.
- Confine big industries including multinationals to only high tech products.
- Efficient channelizing of funds from government meant for development and support
- Entrepreneurship needs to penetrate deep into villages, in a non-invasive manner, taking care of forests, agriculture as well as culture.
- Protection of cottage industry. No harm in promoting capitalism and big houses, but cottage industry needs to be protected and promoted.
- Ensure education for all
All would agree that if all common consumer goods were produced by a Lakh cottage/SSIs across the country, it would create more job opportunities and economic growth than if the same was produced by 10 big companies across the country.
